About
The Boone County Drug Prevention Coalition was established in 2013 as a product of a grant received by Rosecrance. The Coalition is comprised of local law enforcement, government agencies, youth-serving organizations, businesses, churches, parents, youth, and many others. BCDPC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all who live or work in Boone County, by promoting a lifestyle free from the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. We are an evidence-based program focused on ages 11-18 and their families.
The Coalition Goals:
- To educate and inform Boone County citizens about the extent of the alcohol and drug abuse problem in Boone County
- To perform regular and necessary assessments within Boone County
- To foster the coordination of existing community resources in effectively addressing the problem
- To collaborate with other community organizations to fill the gaps in the community alcohol and drug prevention efforts, as available
- To provide advocacy, coordination, information, research, and evaluation as needed to accomplish these objectives
- To secure funding the grant, contributions, and/or fundraisers as appropriate
The Coalition (BCDPC), with the help of Crimestoppers and CVS pharmacy, installed drug bins in order to keep prescription drugs out of the hands of Boone County youth. It is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. It is located in the lobby of the Public Safety Building at 615 N Main St in Belvidere and another Candlewick Lake Association at 13400 IL-76, Poplar Grove.
